Position Summary:

Family Support Specialists provide strength-based support to improve a child's quality of life. Activities are based on the goals of a treatment plan developed by the child's therapist. The Family Support Specialist is part of a collaborative team that includes the clinician, family, and child(ren).

This is a 40 hr/wk position with flexible scheduling primarily in late afternoon and evenings. Positions are available in Waltham.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Develop consistent relationships with youth experiencing behavioral health and/or developmental challenges as well as families, community organizations, and other professionals
  • Learn and implement evidence-based models of best practice in the areas of communication, emotional regulation, and coaching based upon goals developed by the therapist
  • Provide ongoing modeling and support for caregivers around the implementation of a treatment plan
  • Submit all paperwork and billing in a timely manner
  • Actively participate in weekly supervision and trainings as well as staff, treatment team and other scheduled meetings
  • Work collaboratively within a team structure
  • Local travel and client transportation is a routine part of this job (mileage reimbursement provided)

Educational/Experience Requirements:

  • 21 years of age or older
  • Bachelor's Degree in a human services field from an accredited university and one (1) year experience working with children/adolescents/transition aged youth; or
  • Associate's Degree in a human services field from an accredited school and two (2) years of experience working with the target population
  • Experience working with children and adolescents with serious mental health issues and/or developmental disorders and their families
  • Successful candidates will have demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Reliable transportation and proof of valid auto registration, auto insurance, and driver's license; willingness to travel within the region up to 75% of the time; mileage reimbursement offered
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (excel, word, outlook, power point)
  • Weekly or biweekly individual clinical supervision is provided
  • Bilingual candidates are strongly encouraged to apply (but not required)
