HIGHLIGHTS 

  • $50,000/yr starting salary
  • Full-time, non-exempt, position 40 hours/week
  • Hybrid schedule including field work throughout Greater Boston (mileage reimbursed), Canton and Waltham offices, and work from home
  • Paid time off includes ample sick time and 22 days of vacation, in addition to national and some Jewish holidays 
  • Immediate eligibility for medical insurance, dental, vision, retirement plan; no waiting period 

 

Responsibilities of the Disabilities Employment Specialist

  • Work with individuals with mild to moderate intellectual/developmental disabilities explore their vocational interests, and help them find and maintain independent jobs in the community
  • Provide comprehensive supported employment supports for caseload including:
    • Skill and interest assessment, individualized job searching, and vocational training
    • Create relationships with employers in the community
    • Job application and interview assistance
    • Customize job tasks to meet employer needs and job seeker's skills
    • Initial job coaching at hire, then supports fade to check-ins
    • Employer/employee relations
  • Communicate collaboratively and proactively with collateral contacts

 

Requirements of the Disabilities Employment Specialist

  • Bachelor's degree in human services, teaching, business or related field
  • Experience working with individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities (in a vocational or community integrated settings preferred)
  • Experience in business/marketing/sales/fundraising/working with employers is a plus
  • Excellent Interpersonal Communication Skills, both oral and written
  • Ability to problem solve in innovative ways
  • Ability to manage a flexible schedule independently and self-regulate schedule to meet billing expectations
  • Ability to work independently with minimal direct supervision
  • A valid driver's license and a reliable, insured vehicle'involves regular travel in the Greater Boston area in your personal vehicle with milage reimbursed at the federal mileage reimbursement rate
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Word and Outlook
