Placement Summary:
Center for Early relationship Support's clinical services offers in home therapeutic program focused on improving maternal mood and the parent-infant or parent-toddler relationship. Clients are referred to us by hospital social workers, pediatricians, psychiatrist, self-referrals and other sources. Clients include families who are struggling with perinatal mood disorders, substance use, trauma and other stressful circumstances related to parenting, issues of attachment in the parent-infant/child relationship or lack of community support/isolation which can lead to stress on the caregiving system. Dyadic treatment creates opportunities to strengthen the relationship between a parent and baby and create the foundation for healthy child development, as well as nurturing caregiving and attachment systems.
Student Assignments Available:
Students would provide weekly in-home therapy for parent-baby or parent-toddler or preschooler dyads. Our program meets with families, from all backgrounds, within 20-30 minutes of our Waltham office and 20-30 minutes of Boston. For families outside this area, office visits may be provided.
Other Supervised Learning:
Interns will participate in three group supervision meetings each month with other clinicians. Interns will have individual supervision either weekly or biweekly with a supervising clinician.
If a student is not placed in the Academic Year listed above:
Due to the length of treatment, placement in our Center would be best for a student who is able to commit to at least 8 months with our program.
Student will be offered:
- Access to shared workspace in CERS
- Mileage reimbursement when student provides outreach services.
Placement Requirements:
- Interns must be available on Mondays for group supervision
- Interns must have access to a car
- Student will be oriented and trained on JF&CS safety policies & procedures.
